Who is it for?
Researchers working with young people to capture responses to research questions creatively
Overview:
An example workbook for young people based at a specialist youth project. The workbook was designed to support young participants to gather their ideas and thoughts to feed into the creative process and to enable these contributions to also be gathered as data for the research. The workbook contained a series of helpful research-related prompt questions and creative ideas. Some of these related to different stages of the research and project – such as consent and developing a group or identifying audiences for their creative outputs. Other prompts were linked to research questions and aimed to help children and young people express their views about the intervention they engaged with.

“Sometimes we had more individual activity …we set up some time when we just encouraged young people to write their thoughts and their views in a booklet that we had.” (Researcher)
