Who is it for?

Children and young people who are considering taking part in research

Overview:

Enabling children, young people, and other participants to claim their rights requires them to have a full awareness of them. Verbal or written information about research ethics can have limited value for many people. An infographic offers a visual reminder to participants of their rights when taking part in research, and resources in place to support them, thus promoting accountability. Talking through this infographic can also provide a helpful prompt to researchers to ensure that they’ve shared a full overview of the project safeguards and supports to participants and checked their understanding.

Key strengths:
These are simple visual cards which are easy to print and hand out to interview or focus group participants – or to use in an online setting. They can be more accessible than a written information sheet and helps participants remember their rights.
